Most of my work is done independently. I don’t have someone constantly looking over my shoulder to ensure that I am making the right decisions. There are many chances to take shortcuts and just get through the day. Integrity is what keeps me honest. When I think about taking one of these shortcuts, I wonder about what it would say about my work ethic. If I chose to take these shortcuts it would bleed over into other aspects of my life. Distraction is seen as a negative. Even the definition states that distraction is “a thing that prevents someone from giving full attention to something else.” While that can be seen as mostly negative, we here at The Distraction Blog believe that distraction can be an extremely helpful, and dare we say, important part of life. We embrace the things that help us enjoy and celebrate life. We celebrate things like music, movies, literature, food, and travel for the role that they play. The mission of this blog is to embrace distraction and come together as a group of distracted individuals attempting to understand each other a little bit better.
